Backup of Notebook / PC

When you buy a new notebook / pc, make sure you do backup of recovery disk and drivers / application disc.

For Windows 7, you will need 3 DVD's for backup of recovery disk and 1 DVD for backup drivers and applications.

You can buy 10 DVD's for RM 6.90.

You can use those backup discs when the system corrupted by unknown programs such as virus and spyware.

Remember that, you should do these backup things, immediately after buying the notebook.

I did mine after 2 weeks and please don't do the mistake as I did.

Keyboard doesn't work correctly

For Notebook users:-

Every notebook has it's own keyboard fixed with it.

Some times, we may use an external keyboard (pc's keyboard) to replace the notebooks keyboard. To do this, we need to use PS/2 converter to hook up the keyboard to notebook.

After removing the hooked up keyboard, the notebook keyboard should be ok. But, sometimes, it may happen where, after removing the hooked up keyboard, the notebook keyboard doesn't function correctly. This happened to me.

After searching for troubleshooting online, I found the following solution.

Hit some combo of keys, usually shift + numlock, or fn + numlock, or something along those lines, you can disable that.

I hit fn +NumLk (F11) for my notebook and now my notebook keyboard works correctly.

Windows Live Messenger

Some times, we accidentally, might install Windows Live Messenger (WLM). Or it might be already installed when we buy a new notebook or pc.

Every time, when we start our notebook, WLM will pop up. Here is a way to stop it.

For windows 7

Start
Control Panel
Programs
Programs and Features
Windows Live Essentials
Click change/remove
It will then give you the option to pick which ''essentials" you want to remove. Ex:Messenger, Mail, Photo.
Select WLM only.

done.

Window 7 - Problem in installing device?

Now, we slowly migrate from Win. XP to Win. Vista and then to Win. 7. Soon might be, Win. 8 or  above.

While using, Win. XP, we might be using some devices, such as a printer, scanner and  so on.

In my experience, I have been using Win. XP for several years. I bought an HP LaserJet 1020 printer and installed the driver by having a cd. It worked in Win. XP. No problem.

But, when I started using Win. 7, the driver from the cd, cannot be used to install the printer. After some on-line searching, I came to know that, the problem was because of my 64bit Notebook.  Commonly, we are used to 32bit Notebook or pc.

To solve this problem, just type, for example  'HP LaseJet 1020 64bit for Window 7' and search for the suitable driver on-line.

Sharing Printer Win. XP to Win.7

Sharing printer among the Win. XP Computers has no problem.

Just create a workgroup - Set the printer to 'share' mod - Then search the printer by browsing on-line among the workgroup - done.

but sharing a printer from a Win. XP cmputer to a Win. 7 computer is different.

Let us say, we have a Win. XP computer with a printer installed locally. Now, we need to share the printer with a Win. 7 computer.

Way 1
Go to 'Add printer' -Add a local printer - Create new port - Local port - Type the printer's path correctly, such as \\MAINSERVER\Printer3 (look for  the correct path at the network setting) - Select the printer's name from the list - if wasn't listed, then let the Window search for it and update online.

Way 2
Install manually the printer driver onto the Win. 7 computer - Follow the steps from way 1, but don't let the window update the driver. We can use the already installed driver or CD driver to complete the steps.
